Throughout my AP Literature experience, I've created all types of great work that I am proud to share with you. I have picked my top pieces to share. I hope that you enjoy reading them just as much as I did writing and creating them.
My poem
While learning about poems in Unit 1, the class was challenged to try to create their own poem. We could pick any type of poem we wanted to and we were told to be creative and have fun. We based this assignment off of a previous assignment "Hand Poems." I tried to follow this strategy and I wrote about my relationship I share with my boyfriend and five of our fun memories. I also wrote a reflection as to why I wrote my poem. I explained each memory and why I felt it was so important.
After reading the narrative, Kite Runner, a story based in the Middle East during Unit 2 of AP Lit, it inspired me to write my own personal narrative to express the feeling I had the day my niece was born. One of the main purposes of this assignment was to be creative--so I went outside my comfort zone to play with dialogue and imagery. I hope you can feel all the emotions I felt this day while reading my story, and you see all the colors I saw that day through my words.
After reading the poem, "Girl" during Unit 3, it was a huge eye opener to the pressure women feel to be accepted by society. Our assignment was to to create an art project to express the feelings of "the girl." I decided to use melted crayons to express how everyone--other than girls--it told to be themselves and they're told to find their true colors. As for girls, we're told how to dress, how to act, how to talk etc. Making us seem black and squared--all girls being the same.
Digital Essay
After reading Handmaids Tale and Doll house during Unit 4, I learned a lot about manipulation. I was shocked at how a person can treat someone else so badly to get what they want. For our assignment, we had to make a Digital Essay on how to manipulate someone. If you are interested on how to drive someone to insanity, see my Digital Essay tab.
Shakespeare blog
During Unit 5, my class studied Shakespeare deeper than we have before in any other class. After reading Othello, our class had to make a blog about who we thought was at fault for the result of the play. I was able to play with new technology to make my blog, and I tried to be creative with the use of pictures and organization. To see my blog, view my Othello tab.
CUCKOOS nest
For Unit 6, we read One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, we watched the film. Our class had an assignment that was kind of new to us, we had to write a film review. This assignment challenged me because it is NOT supposed to be a summery. However, it was hard to not write a summery. My review is about the characters that were picked to play in the film and how I felt about them.
When reading Beloved, there were multiple themes throughout the book. However, the book cover did not match the book. The cover was plain and had no meaning. Our assignment was to recreate the the cover while tying themes into it. I wanted to use the theme of family and slavery in my cover.
